About Us

Samir and Suhad Abughannam opened Sam's Mediterranean Cuisine in 1995 with a vision of providing authentic Mediterranean food to the community of Davis. As time progressed, the restaurant not only became a local favorite, but also a staple for many in Davis. Sam's is known for its hearty portions of delicious falafels and shawarmas, which are all Halal. Sam's flaky, crisp golden baklavas are also popular among guests who've managed to finish the large portions.


As a family-owned restaurant, Sam's also strives to cultivate a supportive, familial atmosphere. When he isn't in the kitchen, Sam often spends time chatting with both new and regular guests, offering advice and kindness. In 2019, the California Dream Eaters paid Sam's a visit, and needless to say, they were impressed by the cuisine. Despite enduring a brutal year, Sam continues perfecting his craft, creating authentic, honest Mediterranean food for the community.
